In 2018, the Ministry of Human Resources made it compulsory for all e-hailing drivers to register and contribute to the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) also known as PERKESO.

(Since 1 August 2019, SOCSO has initiated enforcement under the Self-Employment Social Security Act 2017, whereby e-hailing drivers who fail to register and contribute to the scheme may be subjected to a fine of between RM500 and RM4,000.)

Self-Employment Social Security Scheme

You and your family will be insured at least RM1,000 per month, paid continuously to you until you are fit to drive again if you ever meet with an accident. Click here for more information about this scheme.

FAQ

Do I need to contribute to SOCSO?

It is compulsory for all e-hailing drivers to register and contribute to SOCSO, as it is a requirement by the Ministry of Human Resources.

What if I already have been contributing to either SOCSO under the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme?

If your contributions have been made under your new IC number, you can stop contributing on your own.

Do I need to contribute to SOCSO through the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme if I am a driver-partner who has a full-time job (where my salary gets deducted for SOCSO)?

Yes, because the scheme for an employee in a company is different from the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme. The Self-Employment Social Security Scheme is compulsory for self-employed taxi, e-hailing and bus drivers.

Will my driver account be suspended or banned if I do not contribute to SOCSO?

No, Lucky Car will not take any action against you. However, SOCSO is currently checking on e-hailing drivers status and intends to impose a fine of between RM500 and RM4,000 to those who fail to register and contribute to the scheme.

Reimbursement from Lucky Car

There are plans to reimburse all Lucky Car Drivers for their contribution to SOCSO in the near future. We will post updates in the Driver-Partner App when this is ready.
